Ingredients
  

  • 2 Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk or milk alternative oat, almond, soy, etc.
  • 2 shots of espresso or strong coffee

Instructions
 

  • Prepare Apple Syrup:
  • Chop the apples into small pieces.
  • In a saucepan, combine the chopped apples, 1 cup sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, a pinch of nutmeg, and 1/2 cup water.
  • Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15-20 minutes until apples are soft and syrup has thickened. Stir occasionally.
  • Strain the mixture to remove apple pieces and spices, leaving a smooth syrup.
  • Make the Macchiato:
  • Pull 2 shots of espresso or prepare strong coffee.
  • Froth 1/2 cup of milk or milk alternative.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of homemade apple syrup to a cup.
  • Pour espresso over the syrup.
  • Carefully add frothed milk on top.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness of the apple syrup to your preference.
Use a clear glass for a beautiful presentation.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick or apple slice.
