- Prepare Apple Syrup:
- Chop the apples into small pieces.
- In a saucepan, combine the chopped apples, 1 cup sugar, 1 cinnamon stick, a pinch of nutmeg, and 1/2 cup water.
- Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15-20 minutes until apples are soft and syrup has thickened. Stir occasionally.
- Strain the mixture to remove apple pieces and spices, leaving a smooth syrup.
- Make the Macchiato:
- Pull 2 shots of espresso or prepare strong coffee.
- Froth 1/2 cup of milk or milk alternative.
- Add 2 tablespoons of homemade apple syrup to a cup.
- Pour espresso over the syrup.
- Carefully add frothed milk on top.
Notes
Adjust the sweetness of the apple syrup to your preference.
Use a clear glass for a beautiful presentation.
Garnish with a cinnamon stick or apple slice.
