Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 1- inch piece of fresh ginger sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons loose black tea or 2 black tea bags
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup milk or milk alternative almond, oat, soy
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or to taste

Method
 

  1. In a medium pot, combine the water, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, ginger, black peppercorns, and ground cinnamon.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the Tea:
  4. Add the loose black tea or tea bags to the simmering spices.
  5. Allow it to steep for 5 minutes.
  6. Brew the Coffee:
  7. While the tea is steeping, brew 1 cup of strong coffee using your preferred method (French press, drip coffee maker, etc.).
  8. Combine and Heat:
  9. Strain the spice and tea mixture to remove solids.
  10. Return the strained liquid to the pot.
  11. Add the brewed coffee and milk to the pot.
  12. Heat gently, ensuring not to boil.
  13. Sweeten and Serve:
  14. Stir in the sugar, adjusting to taste.
  15. Pour the chai coffee into cups and enjoy.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use whole milk or cream.
Adjust the spices according to your taste preferences.
For a vegan option, use almond, oat, or soy milk.
