Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 1- inch piece of fresh ginger sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons loose black tea or 2 black tea bags
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup milk or milk alternative almond, oat, soy
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a medium pot, combine the water, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, ginger, black peppercorns, and ground cinnamon.
  • Bring to a gentle simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the Tea:
  • Add the loose black tea or tea bags to the simmering spices.
  • Allow it to steep for 5 minutes.
  • Brew the Coffee:
  • While the tea is steeping, brew 1 cup of strong coffee using your preferred method (French press, drip coffee maker, etc.).
  • Combine and Heat:
  • Strain the spice and tea mixture to remove solids.
  • Return the strained liquid to the pot.
  • Add the brewed coffee and milk to the pot.
  • Heat gently, ensuring not to boil.
  • Sweeten and Serve:
  • Stir in the sugar, adjusting to taste.
  • Pour the chai coffee into cups and enjoy.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use whole milk or cream.
Adjust the spices according to your taste preferences.
For a vegan option, use almond, oat, or soy milk.
