- 1 shot of espresso about 1 ounce
- 8 ounces of whole milk
- Optional: flavored syrups vanilla, caramel, hazelnut
Prepare the Espresso:
Pull a shot of espresso using an espresso machine or Moka pot. Freshly ground beans work best.
Heat the Milk:
Warm the milk over the stove or in the microwave until steaming but not boiling.
Froth the Milk:
Use a milk frother to create a light, airy foam. If you don’t have a frother, a whisk works too.
Layer the Milk:
Pour the steamed milk into a glass, holding back the foam with a spoon. Then, add the foam on top of the steamed milk.
Add the Espresso:
Slowly pour the espresso over the milk and foam, creating distinct layers.
For a flavored latte macchiato, add syrup to the milk before frothing or drizzle it on top.
Using whole milk yields the best foam, but barista-style oat milk is a great dairy-free alternative.
